I am just repeating what Foundation Care told me. They said Aztreonom is coming with its own nebulizer device and it is the eflow from Pari. I asked if I could use Aztreonom in the TRIO that they are sending me for Colistin and they said as of now no cause Azeo has to be used with Pari's eflow. I am now trying to find out if Pari's e-flow can be used with all the other drugs and then I do not need the TRIO. The TRIO is the updated version of the E-flow per Foundation Care. So I am confused.

so saveferris, ive read youre a real proponet of the eflow and know a lot of it. (ps, giggles says "the eflow by pari" in her first post)

i went on to the TRIO, formerly eFlow, site and re-read the cleaning instructions.

Its been a year or more since I had my eFlow, which i absolutely destested after about one week of using it with a new head (mine would clog and after about a week sometimes two, would be the same time as a reg neb + 4 times the prep and cleaning time). A lot of things have changed compared to when I first got it... but anywho...

when they say "bottled sterile or boiled distilled water" what is that? Bottled water isnt necessarily sterile and then does that mean i have to buy a gallon of distilled water then boil it each time I go to clean the nebulizer stuff? this is probably a dumb question

I use distilled water for my nebs now, in my baby bottle sterilizer but I do not boil it before I put it in. I use hot soapy tap water to wash the nebs then steam sterilize, then alcohol (and in the future control III).

I hated the eFlow b/c it was a pain to clean, and even when I followed the previous cleaning instructions (they've gotten more detailed), on a printed piece of paper (so fancy) the stupid head would still clog.

Anyways, I used hts with it and some are saying maybe thats why it might have been getting clogged... I rinsed between meds as well.

if it works as well as everyone says, maybe i was doing something wrong back then... plus they've updated everything as well it seems.

It's the pulmozyme that clogs the head. When I used the eFlow, I would call Foundation Care about once a month for a replacement head. They would get upset with me, but I would tell that that it's not my fault this stuff is clogging the head.

Brand new head = 3 minutes to use pulmozyme.

Clogged head = 25+ minutes to use pulmozyme.

Talk about frustrating.

My solution was to get two heads and use one for pulmo and the other head for the other nebs. The pulmo head was clogged to hell and took 30 minutes, but at least the other treatments took less that 10 minutes total.

Studies involving using the eFlow with Aztreonom started prior to 2004 (phase II results were being reported in 2004 that I could find.) It's <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.forbes.com/feeds/businesswire/2009/09/23/businesswire129370336.html">newly approved in Europe</a> & is rx'ed with the eFlow; the US wanted <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00757237?term=eflow&rank=6">another trial</a> before considering granting FDA approval, which is still recruiting participants. If you want to try this out sooner, try to get in on that study!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

Amy: do you have any idea, based on what Jennifer said, if for some reason the eFlow that will come with Aztreonom is any different than the eFlow/Trio that has been available all along? It wouldn't seem to make sense that it would be and nothing that I've read seems to indicate that it's some kind of special version of it, but if someone here would know about this, I am sure you would have an idea.

I think that is the issue she was confused about- whether there would now be more than one eFlow out there (like there is more than one version of regular Pari compressor & neb cup, for example, and not all of them can be used for all medications even though the same manufacturer might make them.)
