Does anyone NOT use the vest for physio?

I thought I'd put this out there: A NON-vest (<b>not by any means ANTI-vest though</b>) thread!

I do an hour in the morning and an hour at night of physio.

I do my nebs first (Ventolin, Pulmozyme) and then I do PEP while lying in various drainage positions. In between sets of the PEP I do percussion and vibes with either my husband beating me or with a percussor. When this is all finished I take my TOBI.

If you don't use the vest, what do you do? I'd like to know!

I don't use a vest anymore. It never really worked for me, plus it was uncomfortable, particularly when my port was accessed (which was when I needed physio most anyway.)

I use an Acapella, and I also play french horn. I also have a piece of exercise equipment that's sort of a rowing machine and bowflex in one. It's good for cardio, which helps open me up.

When I'm in the hospital I request the PercussionAir. When I'm at home and feeling particularly gunked up, my husband pounds on me. I know that's an old school technique, but it works for me.

Ry only felt the vest worked 'okay'. He used it if no one was around, and he gave it a fair year shot when he first went to college. His pFt's dropped, he found it uncomfortable, and so, moved in with his friend that knew CPT.

From the time we started seriously dating, I did CPT on him in the morning and at night. It wprked really welll for him, and I liked doing it. Ry was also an avid rock climber, hiker, etc. Which helped.

I tried the Vest. Hated it. Couldn't stand the thing. I do manual CPT. Mike beats me for half an hour every night after my nebs.

I tried the vest for a while, and found it did virtually nothing for me. I changed over to the Acapella, and have used it for years. If I get ill, though, I get someone to beat on me as well, just for extra clearance.

Welcome to Canada! We don't have the vest here. At least not where I am, so I've never tried it. For physio, I do my PEP mask, manual chest percussion (me or my husband), and sometimes these breathing techniques my doctor recommended (not sure what they're called).
