nope, i've been lucky to be healthy enough that i can do pretty much whatever i want. my good friends know of it but otherwise i take care of my cf in private. i'm in college now and i hate it because i miss all my friends so much - and my old life. seriously, i went out or went to events all the time. last summer i worked, partied, and hung out on my lake like you wouldn't believe. then college came & screwed up my life... but cf definately didn't.

         your cf may
not have affected your social life but you cannot speak on behalf
of others. There are those who may have had a very difficult family
upbringing (violence) and there are those who suffer other problems
alongside cf such as dyslexia  which compounds having a
serious condition like cf. I dont succumb to your idea that cf
should not affect you.Everyone is differnt and you cannnot
generalise from your position.

If you had a serious form of cf {not mild} and lived with a very
violent upbringing{stepfather reguarly  hits you} and had
severe learning problems like dyslexia  you would not be
coming out with the statement that cf should not affect you. </end quote></div>

Dude

It looked to me like MiniBlind89 Matt was speaking for Him Self alone...
He was stating How His Life is.......

sorry to cut in, But it seems You misunderstood
what he was saying....

Yes, absolutely!

Highschool was bad because I missed so many days being out and sick as a dog.

My main problems are the amount of time all my treatments take, and I'm often just too tired to go out and do anything. Even going out to lunch is a big deal.

This is kinda laughable, but serious. I don't like sleeping over other people's houses even if they know I have CF, because I always have to go use the bathroom. Not to mention I stink up their whole house. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0"> So I'll just hold what I can untill I get home the next day....and that's pretty darn uncomfortable and dumb.

im 16 in high school and life really doesnt seem to be going well for me. I started basketball season, made the team then i got pneumonia and have to sit out the season due to iv medications, this is happening to me periodically, on average every 6 months. It has happened to me in baseball season too. Im begining to think about just giving up on sports because it just doesnt seem to be working for me. anyone have any advice, please feel free to let me know. Thanks

Dude, Ya Know, I think you hit the nail on the head. CF is not a consistant disease, there are no real ways to guantify/ qualify the effects it will have on your life. Just as there are many external factors that can effect how you handle having CF.
There are so many variables, even if you are the most complient person in the world.
Example: my daughter was a star soccer player, an A student, "good" patient with maintaining her therpies and meds. She had many friends, was active at our church. Most people were surprized to learn that she had had CF since birth. That was when she was 15. With in 1 year of that time she was home schooled as her MD didn't want her surrounded by the mainstram colds and viruses, on a steroid dose that had completly changed the way she looked, was on insulin, was so depressed that she refused all calls from friends, had a port sugically placed, had a G-tube surgically placed. Hence, this drastically affected her social life.

I hope you stay strong, it's hard, you seem to have a flare for writing, good luck to you.
