I've been culturing MRSA on and off for the past couple years. I just finished a round of vancomyacin, tobra, and cefapime, and I am still culturing MRSA...I am feeling better though so I guess that's a good thing.
Anyways, my doc wants me on doxycycline to "suppress" the MRSA (100mg once a day). Do you think this is even worth it? In all the research I've done MRSA is not listed as being even a little bit sensitive to the doxy. If it's a good idea, fine, but I just don't want to be taking medication unnecessarily, especially abx.
Any insight would be great. Thanks all!
