ER

Sarah, I thought you mentioned earlier today that you were going to the ER because of GI issues? Did the doctors do anything about that at all, or were you just there to discuss your chest pain?

I hate to say it, but wherever this hospital is you are NOT getting proper care. Do NOT go back there, and frankly you need to have a very serious discussion with your CF doctor about what went on. If you were actually threatened by the nurse to the tune of "we have the right to do anything we want until your mom comes" then you need to file reports with the hospital administration and make sure other patients are never subjected to that kind of care. It is inexcusable, to say the least.

You may love your CF/pulmo docs, but I would take the advice of those on the board who have urged you to get yourself to an ACCREDITED CF center. They could probably also help sort out your questions about PFTs and needing O2. Also, talk to them about your diagnosis and what mutations you have so that if (god forbid) you ever have to return to the ER you can simply tell them the specifics of your diagnosis if they tell you don't have CF.

This is horrifying. I would NOT let this slide...

Sorry, I just realized you have DDf08 in your signature, so I guess you know your mutations. Whoops!

If you have 2 Df508 mutations there should be no debate about whether or not you "have CF." Even if you have no symptoms, which doesn't sound like it's the case, you clearly have 2 defective CFTR genes. Join the club <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

I find this whole siutation totally disturbing. Definitely call the hospital and report it, please! You will be doing a HUGE favor to patients everywhere.
