Exercise Motivation

Hi, Haley!

I agree with what others have said. I just KNOW it will make me feel better. I feel awful when I just sit around and know I haven't worked out in a couple days. I always do the "every other day" on the treadmill, so I'm ok with eveyr other night sitting on the couch, but I honestly feel so bad when I do anything on that "other" day when I should have gone to the gym and don't.

This is not to say I've not had dry spells. With our recent move, I haven't worked out routinely since about April (and I feel awful cause of it!). It was absolutely excruciating getting back into it. I felt more awful cause I wasn't working out and cause of that, I used that as an excuse to not work out more and more. I'd end up going weeks without going to the gym. Urgh.

Anyway, one thing that's kinda funny I do is when I'm thinking it may be a difficult day getting motivated to go, but I know I should, I go put on all my gym clothes... sports bra, workout sweats, sneakers, etc. and get totally ready to go. I get my O2 filled and waiting for me and fill my water bottle. I may not go right that second when I'm ready, but sitting around most of the day in my workout clothes, with water and O2 ready to go, I somehow just FEEL more like I should go cause I've already put in all that effort. LOL.

So yeah, its weird and maybe just a weird thing I do to psych myself up, but I'm not kidding, it totally works for me. I also know that when I put on my gym clothes, fill my O2/water bottle, etc. I don't have to leave THAT second. Often, I'll do it before eating lunch or hanging out online for a while. Sometimes I'll even run an errand or two with my gym gear on or ready in the car. Either way, as soon as I'm done with that stuff and realize all my gym gear is ready and waiting, I get motivated to get out that door!

Best of luck to you! I know its difficult, especially when you're just getting started OR when you've let yourself slide (like I have), but it feels so amazing when you get into a routine. That's when you start feeling bad for not doing it every day or two versus feeling bad for not doing it for weeks/months. And that's a GOOD thing!
