Exercise or gain weight?

Hi Ladybug -

When I run into this problem I try to bump up/down calories at the margins. For instance, I drink juice(gatorade) when i would normally drink water, 2% milk when I'd normally drink skim, or add a slice of cheese, a little extra butter, a little extra jam, etc...

I'm not sure how much cardio you are doing, but if you dropped about 5 minutes that would prolly add another 100 calories to your daily ledger. It sounds like you're currently breaking even, so any net gain in calories should get you going in the right direction. I wouldn't cut out cardio entirely if you can avoid it.

Stress and anxiety are definitely calorie burners for me. If you're drinking any caffeine you could try cutting back on that. Usually my weight goes up if I cut back on my caffeine intake.

Hope you find your balance.

Thanks, James!

Whoa! Cut caffeine?!?! That's the worst suggestion yet!!! LOL... just kidding. I have been drinking a lot more caffeine lately for some reason so maybe it IS burning my calories too much... I'll try to cut back from 6 cups to 3 and see if that helps too. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

some types of running don't burn as many calories. I know changing your pace burns more calories than running at a constant pace. We actually learned about this in class today.... but I wasn't paying attention very well. SORRY I'm not much help BUT Try googling exercise and weight loss.

Hi! My fiancee has the same problem, what he has always done is run and lift weights plus he drinks Boost plus and tries to eat a jar of peanut butter a week! Sometimes he adds oatmeal to it. On top of that he tries to eat a lot more!! He gained 20 lbs in a year and a half!! then he quit and had 4 teeth removed and lost 10 lbs! So that is the best advice I know to give! You really don't want to loose lung function, because you can do a whole lot of things as long as you are able to breathe!!
