Just wondering who on here exercises?
Has it increased your FEV 1?
What do you do? (cardio, weight training, etc?)
How many times a week?
At home or a gym?
Do you notice a difference in your health?

Well recently I bought an incumbent exersize bike (lazy man's bike) and placed it right next to my bed so I have access to it any time. I probably bike between 5-7 miles a day, give or take a mile. I bike and wear the vest at the same time, kinda killing 2 birds with 1 stone. I attribute my good lung function solely to that, as I have a cold right now, and my FEV1 was pretty good.

Happy Wednesday!!

I exercise regularly...I feel it makes a huge difference!

I weight train 4 x per week

I do cardio 3-4 per week

I also teach yoga 3 time per week.

I feel so much clearer and motivated to stick to the rest of the daily maintenance of the cf schedule<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I would love to help you put together a program for you. I am a personal trainer, a group aerobics instructor and teach exercise kinesiology at Penn State so if you have any questions I would love to help!

Hi Jessica!

I exercise all the time... although admittedly it fluctuates in frequency and intensity depending on my health.

When I'm feeling better I do more cardio, but pilates and yoga (flow yoga, not meditative yoga) are my stand-bys. They're easy enough on the lungs that even if I'm really congested, I can still do them... and strengthening the core muscles really helps support my breathing, coughing, etc. Plus, kinda random, but I have less problems with incontinence (sorry, guys) when I'm doing pilates a lot. They say that helps strengthen those muscles too, so when I cough really hard I don't, well, ya know... <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

I think it definitely increases my PFTs and gives me more energy all day long!!
