I just got my Altera with Cayston. I love it too. No noise ... peace. My sound sensitive ears have been waiting for this 40 years! I think it looks a little like the old cd walkman and the handset looks like a tiny spacecraft <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Thank you Pari! I'm now considering doing more of my meds with this thing. But I will have to buy more handsets, I guess?? I have questions too, it seems.

I have been using the Eflow since January and I can not say in words how much it means to me and how much I love it. Not only is it silent but the treatments get done faster and get down in your lungs better. I TOTALLY believe that cause #1 my PFT has gone up since starting the Eflow along with Colistin AND I am no longer coughing at night, sleep on a normal two pillows and SLEEP through the nite! I have not felt this good in sooooooooo long!!! It is a shame that some CF centers are not proponents of this nebulizer. I know this cause in researching some CF Centers cause I am moving I ask if they are propents and they said they pretty much go by the book and wont use it off label. SHAME! I am so glad I have it now cause those centers said they would not make me change but what about the other CF patients that could be getting these benefits...UGH.

Anyway here is what I do to keep my eflow working 100%. I do each med one after the other so the metal head has NO TIME to clog up and dry up from meds sitting on it. I also the second I am done run to the bathroom to do ALL the cleaning and disinfecting. I really think that is key, that way no meds are sitting on the metal head drying up and clogging it. I have tried to wait a few minutes before cleaning to finish up my vest but it made the metal head clog. So, I rinse the metal head with distilled water, then I add a drop of clear liquied soap to some distilled water in a container and drop the metal head in it and swoosh it all around for a few minutes. Then I rinse the metal head with distilled and then store in the alcohol in a little container, until next use. Then I wash the plastic pieces same way but with warm tap water. Once a day I put ALL pieces in my AVENT IQ24 sterilizer and I use distilled water and disinfect them. Once a week I change the alcohol in the container I use to store the metal head. After the steam process is done I let plastic pieces air dry and put the metal head in the alcohol right from the sterilizer, right away, I do not let metal head air dry, it goes right into the alochol conatiner. Then I am good to go and it has worked wonderfully for me now!

Good Luck! I love the Eflow too!!!!

how young do you think it would be reasonable to try to use the Altera?
How durable does it appear to be?
We are going to ask our doctor this week about cayston for our son..if they think that tobi is
the better route for now, i will ask about compounded tobramycin.
Has anyone switched from tobi to casyton? Do they seem to be prescribed in an interchangeable way?

do you use other meds in the e-flow?
albuterol/ pulmicort?
hypertonic saline?
pulmozyme?

is there a need to clean/ sanitize before each med?

Sorry for so many questions I'm sure they have been asked before.
