My daughter is 2 and was Diagnosed with CF at 19 months. When she was 2 days old she started vomiting, when she was 3 days old she started coughing. She had persistant cough and vomiting until December when she was diagnised with CF. She also had severe failure to thrive. Our doctors kept saying it was asthma and GERD. From December when she was diagnosed and started on enzymes, she stopped vomiting and the cough went away. In April she caught a cold and ever since then she has been vomiting and coughing again. She was hospitalized for 14 days in July for an exacerbation, but the cough and vomiting did not resolve. Our pulmonologist, does not think the cough is becuase of her lungs, they sound clear, chest x-ray looks good and cultures are negative. She does have her scheduled for a bronch next week to double check and make sure there is nothing hiding. Our GI does not think the vomiting is GI related. My daughter vomits about every other day. It is not food related. It is not activity related. We did a stool collection in the hospital and the GI feels she is on the right amount of enzymes. She is finally growing. SHe had a pH probe while hospitalized that was normal and she is on Prevacid already. My question how many of the other CF'ers on this site have frequent vomiting without other active issues. And has anyone ever heard a good explaination why kids with Cf have frequent vomiting? I suspect it is CF related, but can not find any info and I think our GI thinks I am crazy.
