Premium in Washington DC was $4.45 when I drove by this AM. The gas station near home in Annapolis was only $4.30 for premium.

Tara - The higher performance engines run higher compression ratios and if you put lower octane in them the knock sensors will retard the engine to keep it from detonating prematurely, but only so well. You can permanently damage the engine by using too low an octane gas, not to mention it drives like a slug. I drive a corvette and that requires premium too.

I filled up yesterday morning for $3.92/gal. Happened to notice that a gas station near work was $4.09! Such a difference 30 miles apart. That's right people, I drive 30 miles, one way...60 miles a day!!!!! Husband is pushing for a new job ASAP!!!!!

Driving 30 miles or more in the DMV area (D.C., Maryland, and Virginia) is not unheard of since my mother and stepfather both commute up north 5 days a week. My mother just told me today that they average $600 dollars a month on gas alone! It's ridiculous...
