Mark, not to hijack the thread, but.... Hi-Performance doesn't necessarily mean Turbo. None of my corvettes over the years (1970, 1987, 2002 and 2007 all with factory engines and unmodified) has had a turbo engine. http://www.julietpage.com/corvettes/index.html The last turbo engine I had was in "Flash" - my little Red 1986 Laser XT. My 5.0L Mustang didn't have a turbo either and it was what I'd consider a Hi-Perf engine too. They've all sucked down premium gas. When I take my '70 to the drags I put in octane booster so that I can dial in a more aggressive timing and eek out a bit better time. Usually after that tank of gas though I need to back things off a bit. My 2007 has 10.9:1 compression and my stock 70 has 10.25:1 compression (intake has never been off that baby!) But that car was new back in the days of leaded gas... when it was like 50 cents a gallon. So 10 MPG wasn't a big deal.
But anyways... Today the gas at the local station for Premium was a mere $4.17. ~Juliet
