Having more than one child with cf

I am curently pregnant, unplanned while using birth control, and am looking for experiences that people have had living a large family and more than one child having cf. Currently I have a 5-year-old with cf and 2 under the age of 2 without cf. I am trying to decide whether or not to keep the baby and was just looking for honest responses on what it is like to live in a household with more than one cf child.

For me, my second child was so easy b/c I knew exactly what I was dealing with when it comes to CF. Nothing really seemed to change, just one more smile to wake me in the morning. Clinic viists take a little longer b/c there's two of them instead of one..and I have to keep on top of ordering my refills, but other than a couple small things, nothing was really that different for us. Hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, please feel free to pm me. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Tracey, mom to Sydney 8 w/cf & asthma and Seth, 4 w/cf both ddf508

Thank you for the response. I guess my biggest question is if having two children with CF leads to more illness and trouble per child, that is for each child? or are there things you can do at home to minimize troubles. My 5-year old has a very mild case and has no major problems or bacterias.

You will find many opinions on this chat board...I find it so difficult when I see questions such as these being posted. I know I hate seeing them because my position is so strong with regard to abortion as a non-option. Once that child is created - especially now that he/she is old enough for them to determine CF status, it's a little late to make the determination not to have that child. If I was absolutely certain that I didn't want or risk another child with CF, I personally would have a tubal ligation or my husband would have a vasectomy. I apologize if I've come across as insensitive....
