hey guys i'm 14 weeks pregnant now and i'm just wondering if any body else has had headaches. i'm having one like everyday and i'm really starting to get annoyed. is it just that my horomones are raging and causing my body to go hay wire? maybe i'm just going crazy and letting my head think things, but i'm just hoping that's not the case!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

hello I saw the post and knew I had to respond. I started getting headaches around 11 weeks into my pregnancy and then I would say around 13-14 weeks they were no longer really headaches but migraines and they just kept gettinng worse to the point that they were keeping me from functioning.

Luckily one day I had one and I had an OB appt and doc saw how bad they were. She prescribed me vicodin which after MUCH hesitation, research, and debate--along iwth 3 more calls to their office LOL I finally broke down and took. There are other pain meds that can be rx but vicodin is kind of the 'old stand by' I guess. I would take a 1/2 and it made it to where I could function a bit but I couldnt stay at work on them because I am a real lightweight and even 1/2 made it to where I couldnt do much. I had to get FMLA for the migraines because they were so bad I just couldnt stare at a computer screen all day (my job at time).

The theory was that once I got a month or so along they woudl stop because the hormones would be at a different stage but they didnt so I asked to be rx a blood pressure med I had read about being used for pregnancy induced hormonal migraines, they dont know why exactly it works but it does for a large number women. It is called Verapimil--sp? anyway I started taking that I cant remember what # weeks and within a week it was better little to no headaches, from then on out I had maybe one a week (which is not abnormal for me anyway) and I had less than 5 the rest pregnancy requiring vicodin.

Next pregnancy I am going to see if I can wait out the 1st tri but I will be going on it right away. Thye didnt think of it or recommended it to me initially because it can cause probalmes in asthma so I measured peak flow regularly and never had a rpoblem with it.

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and for the past week I've been getting headaches everyday too... I have only been taking regular strength Tylenol and that isn't even helping anymore. I just have to lay down, close my eyes... and then I fall asleep! hahaha.. maybe it is our hormones going crazy!
