I am known at Piper's school as one of "those" parents, so take this with a grain of salt (pun intended). First, if you don't have an IEP or 504 for Alyssa, please consider it. As to the snack issue, a 5-6 yr old is perfectly capable of understanding a statement like "Alyssa's tummy works differently than ours and she has to have lots of calories and salt every day to stay healthy". I would reply to the teacher's e-mail (so that the contents and reply of the last mail you sent & the teacher's reply is included), copying in the principal, and offering very sweetly to come speak with the class regarding Alyssa's CF and nutritional needs if necessary, but that Alyssa would be continuing to bring in snacks that meet her dietary needs. A part of me hated, and was very reluctant to be "that" parent, but Piper's needs come first. The benefit of it is that the school knows I mean business, and they stopped trying to gloss over things or placate me with empty promises.
