Hi Cecily,

Welcome to the site.

Getting into a doctor at a CFF clinic w/o a referral most likely has more to do with your own health insurance company than another physician referral. So I would recommend checking your policy for referral rules to a specialist first.

Ditto to everyone else...keep pursuing the genetic testing. You can read our full story on my blog page, but the short version is...my kids sweat tests are pretty low (38 & 41) and that is why they were mis-diagnosed and not diagnosed until genetic testing was done.

If your child's sweat test number was below 10 that is a little less suspicious than something in the 20's or 30's but definitely not unheard of to still find CF... it has happened to several people. You should still pursue FULL genetic testing, because anyone showing symptoms of CF deserves to know for sure... the risk of not getting proper care and treatment is too great. Keep pushing and fighting until you are sure he doesn't have CF.

My daughter had yeast infections when younger, but I think that was due to the antibiotics for ear infections.

Oh, and don't worry about asking too many questions !!! Keep'em coming -- we don't mind
