Here in Kentucky we have a gov. program called the center for children with special health care needs. They help pay for medical treatiment and meds. for certain conditions and cf if one of them. If you don't have insurance you should qualify, especially on minimum wage jobs. I don't know if every state has this, but I would be happy to get you the number for the one here and maybe they could help you out. Good luck.

I'd like to help you out a little bit more. Can you tell me the county in which you live? (I'm legit, just ask around if you have any concerns before you disclose it to me, or feel free to Private Message the county to me)

I understand that having CF does not equal a developmental delay. However, is your child sick a lot? Missing daycare/pre-school or anything like that or struggling in a developmental area? if so, this might be of some assistance to you, and at least help you get your foot back in the door to qualify for medical: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.cms-kids.com/EarlySteps/b%26wEarlyStepsbrochure.pdf

Here are some other resources that might be of interest to you:

Here is another point of contact, I'd be more than happy to do some research for you but I need to know what county you live in.

For this program, the FLORIDA KID CARE: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.floridakidcare.org/eligibility.html">http://www.floridakidcare.org/eligibility.html</a> here are the income guidelines:

Family of 3: $2767 maximum gross income (before taxes)
if you make AT or below this amount, your monthly premium will be between $15-20 dollars and you will have 100% MEDICAL and PHARMACY benefits for your child. after the child reaches age 5, you will then have a copay between $10-15 for each doctors visit and each medication.

Family of 4: $3334 maximum gross income (before taxes)
Same as above if you make at or below this amount.......

I am still awaiting a call from the Childrens Medical Services department as I'm in a different time zone and they are closed, but I expect to recieve a return call or email tomorrow.

And here's some info on the medicaid program:

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.dcf.state.fl.us/ess/fammedfactsheet.pdf">http://www.dcf.state.fl.us/ess/fammedfactsheet.pdf</a> (see specifically page 7 of 17)
Here are the federal poverty guidelines: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/06poverty.shtml">http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/06poverty.shtml</a> Since your child is 3, in order to qualify for Medicaid for Children, your GROSS income must be at or below 133% of the FPL. So, if you are a family of 3, the FPL (based on the table above) is $16,600, and 133% of that is $22,078. So that's the maximum you can make and still qualify for this program for the MEDS (Medicaid for children) program.

Hope this helps a bit. You can research the guidelines and know your rights and make sure that they aren't wrong, because they frequently make mistakes!!! (based on personal experience!!!!!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">)

Contacting the CF Center and their social worker for help is the first step.. They can help you with these issues.
