Hillrom vs Respirtech

If your vest comes with a three-pronged plug (I'm asking because it wasn't mentioned and I've never seen the system before), and you have difficulty in obtaining one, I can send a few to you...btw, Greq White was helpful in his detailed explanation, but one slight error in his wording is that Japan has either a 60 Hz OR 50Hz frequency for a 100V outlet source. He was basically saying that your unit will be operating at an "undervoltage" situation, but was nice enough to give a quick technical explanation on how to compensate for that. And, a special note, He said that if you happen to use the unit at 100% in the States at the nominal voltage, it will decrease at the 100V level in Japan.

As for Hillrom, I noticed you asked two different questions between Hillrom and RespirTech, so you did get two different replies. However, I don't see Hillrom's reply being very "customer friendly", and Hillrom should have asked more details, or at least offer more information, if anything.

Seriously, if you are in need of the three-prong to two-prong adapter with a ground wire, let me know.

Have a safe trip!

I'm going to side with Hill-Rom - they busted some serious tail to get us a vest upgrade before the end of the year (OOP was met for 2007) when we realized our insurance would spring for it in mid November. The 104 vest arrived 12/26 - and J is much, much happier with it than the 103.

Hopefully, it's just one customer service representative. Since you're used to travelling overseas with the Hill-Rom vest -- maybe you could contact them again and explain the situation. In any event, I'd be sending a letter of complaint to a higher up.

Our customer service issues have been minor, although when I called the customer service person we dealt with from day one, she no longer was working for the company and when I called her extension, there wasn't an option to dial zero for an operator. Just a message that the extension was no longer in service and CLICK. So I called the main number and got someone else --- power cord had gotten cracked/cut some how. I also emailed them shortly before Xmas to get a new travel bag as the original one -- interior pockets for hoses frayed shortly after we got it. They shipped the new rolling duffle the next day.
