I think I'm moderate. At baseline I'm around 58%, but I can't hold a job PLUS workout, eat correctly, etc. without getting rundown and ending up on IVs (orals don't work for me anymore). A lot of it has to do with my anxieties about being/getting sick though.

My FEV1 is right around 90%. I consider myself mild for now. Though I have to say, I'm less mild than I was when I was a child. Because while my FEV1 is still quite high, my small airways have gone from the 90th percentile down to the 40% range.</end quote></div>

I just don't understand this whole small airway thing. How can someones small airway's decrease by 60 percent but their FEV1 is only 10 percent from normal. You'd think if the small airways decreased that much you would see a more substantial drop in FEV1. That puzzles me. Also, how do they measure the difference in between small and large airways.

Well, you would think I'd be classified as Mild since I wasn't dx until age 43, HOWEVER,
My FEV1 was 39% last mo. and I'm on & off O2 these days so Mild has become SEVERE.

I don't know quite how it works either... except that small airways always go first. And I also don't know how they measure it, but the FEF 25%-50% is your small airways.
