I would say, mildly severe. My FEV1 is 30%. I am active, but not like I want to be. I had to quit my job because of the effects it had on my health. I have been known to lay around all day and sleep (I dont get good sleep due to another health issue). Overall, I can get around pretty good. I go shopping (just walk a little slower than my hubby but he's a RN, so he can fly walking around), hang out with friends, run errans up town, cook, pickup around the house, take care of my nieces - basically anything that isnt too high impact. I am not on any oxygen. I can wash and fold clothes but can't do housework, I have to hire help because it gives me out of breath (been like that for yrs though). I do get tired easier than I use to, especially if I have a current infection. Taking a shower can sometimes be a hassle. As long as I do my nebs and vest every 4-6 hours, I do good. I can't wash my car, it's too much on me even with nebs. I have notice that there were somethings that were easy to do, that now, are a little more challenging.

My PFTs are all over the place, but I guess I would consider myself "Mildly moderate" if that makes sense. I'm definitely not where I was even 5 years ago, but I've had friends at the opposite end of the spectrum and I'm not quite there yet. Right now I think my FEV1 is 69% which is kind of high, usually it hangs out between 50-60, and when I'm ill (a few times a year) can dip down to 20-30.

I think a lot of times we just get used to how our lungs feel and dealing with limited lung function. That's how some of you guys with really low FEV1s can work full time (!! and I really admire that!) and don't seem fazed by it. Of course we all have other stuff to deal with too that can wear us down and make things seem worse. CFRD, arthritis, kids to chase around, things like that. <img src="">

Depends what day it is. Sometimes I feel like I'm moderate. When I'm tired, I feel severe. Even if I'm feeling good and moderate, but I get crappy FEV1 numbers such as 38 % even though Ive been compliant on my meds, I feel severe just from seeing the numbers.

Up until the last year I would have said mild, but in comparison to other CFers, I think I am more on the mildly moderate side. Overall, my health is good - and more importnantly it has been very stable all throughout, but my PFTs are still only in the 70s, which isn't too bad, but they could be better. I don't work right now, but I did work full time and probably will again. Actively, there isn't much I can't do - never really get SOB, and I still run around with my kids - though I often have to stop to cough - but then I can keep going.
