How do you work your treatments around school?

my son gets on the bus @ 7:00AM and gets off the bus by about 4:00 during the school year.
He dose Albuteral 3 times a day W/vest, and also dose pulmicort 2 times a day. Dr would like us to use Pulmazyme, but my son is waiting on genetic testing. So w/out a CF diagnoses our insurance will not ok it.

This will be our first year working this around his school schedule. I would like to know how everyone else balences their treatments w/ school?
Thank in advance.

My boy will start 1st grade in the fall and we're a bit anxious about the same thing - but he'll be driven to school so can do some of his nebulizer in the car. He gets albuterol/pulmicort/hypersal twice a day and pulmozyme once.

We did a test run during a 2-week camp and it looks like he'll be getting up at 6:30 and starting his day with nebs & vest before breakfast, then the last neb or two in the car (it's a half-hour drive). I'm actually more concerned about the night-time routine fitting in with dinner and a bit of play time than with morning. He's never had full-day school

If he is in good shape, we'll probably use an inhaler & spacer for albuterol and flovent(instead of pulmicort) some days to speed it up.

If he needs to, he can do nebulizer treatments at school in the nurse's office - asthma seems so prevalent these days it is hardly unusual for a kid to have a neb at the shool office.

Since Bek will be in kindergarten next month, she was eligible to go to summer school this year. In order to get her albuterol inhaler (school mornings only), hyper-sol, tobi (each with a vest tx), eat breakfast, take a bath, and be ready for me to pick her up at 8:15, she had to get up at 5:45. Since she will be riding the bus next month, and pick up time is around 8 a.m., she will have to get up at 5:30 every morning.

She has a home health nurse, and our dogs bark every morning when she comes in the door, Bek usually wakes up before it's time to get everything started anyway.

(Just a side note - she does her vest with each breathing tx because her bio father doesn't hook her up to it when she is at his house. It goes with her, and he turns it on so it looks as if he has used it, but she has told me he turns it on in his bedroom while she is playing in the living room. I try to compensate while she is with me for his idiocy.)

When she gets home from school she does her 2nd albuterol with vest, then in the evenings she does her pulmozyme and tobi, both with her vest, before going to bed at night.

DS goes to preschool/daycare. DS sleeps thru his early morning treatment, actually sleeps in until about 7:30 a.m.

We do 3 treatments a day 5:45 a.m., 5:30 p.m. and 9:30-10 p.m. We do albuterol/atrovent nebs, which take no more than 15 minutes during the vest treatments.

When CPT/vest is done, we do tobi, which takes 20 minutes. We do tobi at the early morning and middle treatments. We do pulmozyme before bed at the last treatment.
