Here's the info on the "fallopian tube testing", LOL! <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.ivf.com/hsg.html

</a>
Jessi, Dr. Depender is great with infertility stuff too, at least referring to who you need to see. Patients come back all the time and thank him for their babies.

Jennifer -I might be wrong, but I am pretty sure fallopian tubes don't get clogged my mucous - only your cervix does. In all likelyhood, unless you've had an STD and had scar tissue your tubes should be open - but, the hsg can look for abnormalities with your tubes and uterus -

my gyno made us wait one year, then the first thing they look at is sperm count - it's silly do do much else if that's outta whack (I don't mean they can't help out a low count, but they probably won't send you for testing if they see your charts and then he has a low cont or low motility or whatever - kwim?)

after that I had the hsg which I honestly felt was a waste of money, but that's because I alreadt had had a child.

then we went to clomid and hcg trigger with timed intercourse and then clomid, hcg trigger and iui.

Don't call your insurane - they do flag stuff and your doc can bill a lot of stuff differently than infertilty - for example mine billed my hsg as "painful periods" - my ins. still didn't pay, but that's besides the point.

Get the sperm count done now - my hubby didn't want to do it but we were able to do it at home and I took it into the lab for him (they'll tell you how to do that) - it is the most pleasurable medical test he'll ever have!

any other infertility stuff, just ask.

the books that everyone mentioned above I have also used and found extremely helpful in understanding and controlling my cycle.
I used robitussin on the suggestion of my cf doctor and several cf moms. I used ovulation kits too. I was on birth control for 4 years and had been off it for 4 months prior to trying. I conceived on the 2nd month of trying.
I think it depends greatly on the person. Regardless of cf-some women go faster, some slower. I don't know why it happened so quick for me.

Okay guys,

I think I could get him to do it at home. Maybe not right away, but I could see him doing it eventually. How do you go about ordering one? Do you need a specialist to order it? Or a family physician? Thanks!

call your gyno - tell him/her you have been TTC for over a year and want a sperm analysis - they will tell you what to do from there. Your family doc might do it for you too. make sure they know how long you have been trying and that your cycles are regular and normal! good luck!

Wow! Thanks for all the replies! I am hoping it won't take too long because I would like to have a baby before Brian has to go back out to sea, which is in about 2 years. We may not get to start trying until this summer or fall, it depends on how the genetic testing goes (we have an appointment for that tomorrow), and how my latest pap comes out, but I am thinking positively.

As far as my depression (and his) goes, we are much better. When I wrote that blog entry my meds had just been messed with by the doc and I flipped out really bad. I scared myself with that one. But in the middle of all that I got so upset that I actually managed to get some info from Brian about why he was so unwilling to seek help. I won't get into it, but he had some pretty good reasons. I'm not saying things are perfect, but he is getting much better about talking things through. Before he would just shut me out. Now when I ask him how his day went he actually tells me instead of saying "fine".
