when i used 10% hts i tried it in my e-flow and thought i was going to die it was so strong, so i wouldn't recommend that..i also find the 7% is difficult to tolerate for more than 30 seconds if that long. i just use the pari with 7%because i don't have any 3% right now but my doc said its just fine to use the HTS in the e-flow, just be sure to wash it really well or even have a separate chamber to use just for hts, (but still wash it really well. i'm not sure that was all that helpful but thught i'd throw it out there!

Maybe I am getting some bad advice and I need to press this issue. I think my local doc would be in favor of it; so, I'll ask him to review the research. I just have other battles to fight right now and want to get through those before I tackle the next. I am glad to know there are many out there using it and finding benefits for it. I'll bring this up again next clinic visit Isn't it amazing the differing opinions of all the docs in the CF world on so many issues. Ughh!

it would be SO helpful for us if they could all reach a consensus on these things!

I do all my meds in the e-flow, EXCEPT pulmozyme. It makes it "gunky" and then it doesn't work properly.
As far as the study drug (aztreonem<--spelling?). My clinic was very clear, that I was not to use it (e-flow) with anything else. So, I got my doc to give me a seperate neb, and I use that for everything else.
I do Pulmozyme in the side-stream with the pari compressor.
I use foundation care pharmacy, they give me free ABDECK vitamins with Tobi,Pulmozyme and HTS 7% (which I got used to after a while and don't cough so much anymore...think I need higher). They also do an e-flow pre-mixed collistin, but it is not reccommended by my doc...pre-mixed is no good.
I think the e-flow makes the intensity of the drug stronger. The "smoke" makes the drug so tiny, we absorb it more.
BEWARE, I did my pulmozyme in it for few weeks, and got big bleeds. I went back to the pari, haven't had a bleed since.
I love the e-flow!
