How much do you cough?

I was also told to cough more so I try and cough every couple minutes. But I am lazy so sometimes my cough sounds like a sneeze and people say "bless you"!

I used to cough excessively as a kid (all through the night too). Since my early 20's I've gotten more of a throat-clearing thing going on. I barely cough at all any more unless I'm doing treatments. But I clear my throat constantly. I can bring stuff up when I do it too, which I think is weird.

Hmm, I don't know what sort of coughing you were told to do but I'd be skeptical about this. Does he mean for you to cough gently? Or to cough with the aim of bringing sputem up?

People with CF have barrell shaped chests because of poor posture induced by coughing (ever notice how your shoulders hunch when you cough?). I'm guessing you were told to do this maybe to 'keep stuff moving' in there? I would disagree.

I was told to cough LESS. It's why I found AD a fantastic form of physio because it means every cough you DO do, is productive. No more spasm coughing, but only productive coughing.

I'd be very interested to read literature or studies on Warwick's theory. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
