I dont sterilize anywhere near as often as what is suggested. I wash/rinse with hot tap water (yes tap water). When the mood strikes me I actually boil or soak in bleach or something. I KNOW, I KNOW the risk! I also would never use it in my dishwasher for a few reasons. It grosses me out to think of what might be in the dishwasher and I dont have a sterilization/disinfect level to assure things. I am by no means advocating not worrying about it. Especially for the younger CFers who havent cultured anything or havent colonized any bacteria. BUT I am being honest about it!

We wash, then boil Zoe's after every use. No exceptions. I don't feel the need to risk anything growing in it.

Have a great day!

Hey Jenn,
We also wash with hot, soapy water, rinse, and then boil every single time. I am paranoid about what could happen if we don't. I have 3 sets for xopenex and then 1 set for pulmozyme, so I can wait to boil until I have a whole pile. I also buy purified water so that our (very) hard water doesn't leave deposits on the equiptment. At first it seemed like a big deal to boil all the time, and now it's just part of the routine. Doesn't it always seem to go like that? Every time we add something new I have to adjust, then after about 3 weeks or so it's habit and not a big deal. We're coming off IV's right now and will start tobi soon for the first time. Looks like I'm headed for another adjustment. Uggg!

Hugs,

Jada, you always come through as one of the best CF mom's I'v ever met <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Zoe will be so much healthier for that.

You are 100% correct. I do it after every use as well - I spent too much time doing nebs & the Vest to re-infect myself with bacteria that grows on the neb after I'm done using it.

Hugs to Jada!

Aidan' nebs are boiled twice every day. We boil them after every use. Of ocurse there have been many times where we totally melt them and lose a pot in the process because we forget. We've since bought a very loud timer! It goes off and Aidan yells, "nebs done". No pots have been lost since.
