Here is a link to a memorial tribute? for Katherine Shores. At the time of her death, back in 2004, she was reportedly the oldest living CF patient in the US. She was 79. article on Katherine

You can also google her name & find some interesting articles that she or her son, Donald wrote.

its so nice to hear a thread like this but it also reminded me of my favorite quote by Abraham Lincoln "And in the end, its not the years in your life that count, but the life in your years."

happy living everyone!

No transplants, diagnosed at age eight in 1956, after much illness since birth with many hospitalizations through age twelve.

My wife and I live on the California coast about 45 minutes south west of San Francisco. we enjoy some of the cleanest and freshest air in the country!

I moved to California from Massachusetts in 1990 after having enough of the harsh winters and year round air polution. The smartest thing I ever did!!!

My FEV1 was 33% last time it was checked three months ago. I am happy living on less oxygen! It kind of goes along with the fact that I have less interest in participating in the world the way I use to. I am self employed and work out of my home doing computer aided design and drafting. It is an easy life of my choosing.

It takes less energy to do the things I really enjoy anyway, like being near the ocean and spending relaxing time with my wife and our cat and our closest friends.

Life continues to be good and challenging just like it always has. The people and circumstances are just a little different, that's all.

Best wishes to all!!

Replying to an earlier poster...not sure who...sorry...there is a man named Hal that turned 75 in 2006. He's also on another board that I'm on. He was also a late diagnosis, but has a such an interesting story. There are links about him all over...
