How old were you "SUPPOSED

Wow seems like alot of you are living 3x longer than what they thought. If that's the case my daughter may live to the ripe old age of 120!! Just keeping positive you know!!HAHA! It is nice to hear these stories thanks for helping us moms deal.

I just don't think it was appropriate for a doctor (or anyone else) to 'limit' my life. I have lived an amazing life, I've done things I never thought I'd be able to do, I've seen places I've only dreamed of. That is what it is about for me. I don't live in a bubble, I truly LIVE my life, and I'm so proud of that.
</end quote></div>

You limited your own life. Your doctor's didn't make life choices for you - they simply gave you information.

You were the one that didn't care how you acted.

You were the one who didn't plan for your future.

<b>You will find others on this board were given the same information that you were, and didn't make the same life decisions that you did. </b>

The blame doesn't belong on the docs for giving you a prognosis.

The blame belongs on you for your choices.

Dx @ 2months on an island where I was the first diagnosis with CF- they didn't know much about how to take care of me so they gave me until I was 7. Then I turned 7 and it was 12. Then I turned 12 and they just shut up and said they didn't know.

my mum and dad were told about 7 to 10, however research would always advance so to live in hope it may be 30!! holy shite i thought 30 was very old when i was 10. i would gladly have signed a written contract to croak it at 30.
now im 35 and in as good a shape now or even better than a decade ago. my mind has been a significant key to my "longevity" as i truly believe i have seen many people allow CF to dictate to them and give in the daily fight. i developed a never give in tenacity and im sticking in what worked for me!! i reckon kids born today will live very long and productive lives into their 50's and 60's, i think i will!!
however i understand Kelli's point and believe she has a sincere soul. one thing i believe i would have done different without an impending death sentence hanging round my neck, is to have studied hard at school and gone to university. 4 years at uni was toooo many in my shortened life!! i had the fun things to cram in, not study!!, gimme a break! so here i am now at 35 , managing a motel part time, very unhappily married, and no career to fall back on, so im off to study this year, never too late. the fact i didnt die when i thought i might is now throwing a spanner in the works lol. so i "get ya point girl" cheers Blacky
