Pulmozyme and HS do two different things -- unless he is having adverse effects with the Pulmozyme, I would think it is best to do both drugs.
My daughter is on both and feels it is a very good combination. She loves her saline - says she can feel a difference right away if she skips it. Her doctor too was concerned with "adding" more time to her day - cautioned that it is a maintenance thing - commitment to twice a day but she was willing to give it a try and she is glad she did.
Be sure to discus with your doctor why he would recommend quitting the pulmozyme -- Hypertonic Saline's purpose is to draw in a layer of moisture to the lining of the lungs so that the "slippery lining" is there to make it easier to cough up mucus. Pulmozyme thins the mucous -- without the thinning he still may have a hard time getting mucus up and out.
