You've already been given all the advice for what you can do so I'm just here for a sympathy post.
I've had this twice so far and while the second time wasn't as bad, the first time just about had me fearing for my life. It was the same scenario. You just feel a small tickle or crackle in the middle of the chest and all of the sudden you bring up straight blood. The first time, it was coming so fast I was hovering over the toilet and I almost couldn't catch a breath because as soon as I spat out what I brought up, there was more gargling in my throat ready to be brought out. For a couple minutes, I felt like I was almost going to drown in it.
All I was told was to stay upright and get on the vitamin k and stop airway clearance. As long as I wasn't bringing up cups at a time, there wasn't much else I could do. It ended up staying with me a day or two and that night, I had to keep a bowl next to the bed to have something to do with the little plugs that broke up throughout the night. Not something you'll ever forget no doubt. Sorry for the long post, but I'm new here and it's nice to have somwhere to relate stories like this to people who go through the same things.
Take care and good luck.
