Diane,

Sorry you are hitting a bump but sounds like you are coming out swinging!

I have done a few things this year that have gotten my PFT's up about 10%.

My List:

#1 I started off by making excercise a part of my life ALL the time, not jsut whenever I feel like it. It doesnt matter what you do as long as you get started and continue to challenge yourself.

#2 I got allergy tested, started on shots

#3 I started on xolair to treat my 'allergic asthma' though truthfully I wanted it for ABPA but you have to meet the criteria for allergic asthma which most o f us would (elevated IGE, take albuterol xopenex etc, take asthma meds). This med has been life changing for me and I cant say enough good about it.

#4 I started eating more healthfully (this is still a challenge)

#5 I got a respirtech vest and use it religiously (more effective than hillrom in my experience and a small study)

#6 treatments are now a religious think I try to never mess with though I still fit them in around life not vice versa

I dont have trouble with gainig but I would try to add some healthful foods that not just supplements and junk such as avacados, nuts, oils, lots protein and complex carbs.

Christian-I called respirtech myself and spoke with them to see what if any work my clinci would have to do since my clinic had not used them before. THey had spoken with respirtech before but were under impression from teh rep they had previously spoken with that they would have to do all insurance hassles that they are not equipped to do so I found out this was not so, got the forms needed for the RX and took them in to my clinic. They filled them out, faxed them in and presto---vesto! If you want more details and contact info etc see my blog. ALso respirtech will give your office a free vest for patients to try if your office lets them come do a demo etc so that would be a way for you to try it out, just contact respirtech tell them where your clinic is and they will be upon them like hawks--at least they were on mine <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">. Just FYI though there has been some personnel changes at respirtech and I am VERY unpleased wit the follow up service I have gotten and mistakes made so hopefully this will not effect you.
