I work full time, have always worked since the day I turned 16. im 36, FEV1 on a good day is %30, most of the time it hovers between %25 and %28. I continue to work a full time job and put in 40 to 50 hours a week or what ever is needed....I am in hospital 2 to 3 times a year... on average about every 6 months...

I've never been employed (other than a 1-month summer job) but that's because I HATE the idea of having a boss!
I've worked for 12 years as a freelance translator, from home.
Since 3 years ago I run successfully a network marketing business from home and traveling around the country.
My FEV1 was abt 60 last time I checked.

I've worked since I was sixteen. For the past seven years, I've been a caseworker at a medium-secure juvenile facility. 40 hours a week, sometimes more. My baseline FEV1 is 36%. I do IVs about every three months and go into the hospital only when I can't function.

Sometimes I think I push too hard, but most of the time I believe that working has helped give me purpose and has given me a better quality of life. I'm exceedingly stubborn and will continue to work until I no longer can.

I will say that working for an employer that is understanding about my needs and health issues makes all the difference in the world. My boss and coworkers have been more supportive than I could have asked for, of which I am very grateful.

I had to reply no bc I'm at home raising 2 kids, doing 3 hrs of therapy a day, cooking meals, cleaning up constantly, changing diapers, keeping clothes washed and folded for 4 people at all times, driving daughter to classes, but no...I don't work. hahaha

Now work outside? I used to work. I worked in a doctors office for 2 years in my teens part time. Graduated, went to art school, taught child-life type art and was professional artist (commissions, shows). Got married. Decided to reach the goal of being a mom but couldn't do both so stopped work for this. Love my job.
I am 27 and my FEV is around 60%, but were in the 40%s for years. I have always worked full time and find that I do better when I have the structure of work. When I am on summer break I rest more, but I find the lack of structure makes it harder for me to get all my treatments in, enough food, and exercise because my schedule is different everyday. With that being said I am currently pregnant with our first child so I will be staying home for at least the first few years if not longer.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I work at an elementary school hence the summers off

Its good to see I'm not the only one with FEV1's in the 30's-40's still working full time. I'm 29 and my FEV1 is usually upper 30's to lower 40's. I work full time with lots of overtime for many days in a row when we are busy. I did 20 12 hour days in a row in December, but honestly i love it! I have always wanted to work and as many of you i started working full time at 16. Actually I had 2 jobs at 16 and had to lie to both bosses because of labor laws. I love to work and I plan to keep on working. I have a house and a comfortable income, and i wouldn't give it up for anything. My doctor doesn't share the same views butto each thier own.

I work full time (~50 hours) & travel every other week. I was traveling weekly, Mon-Thu, but since Sep 2011 I cut back to every other week (including travel days, I'm now gone ~9 days/month instead of 20 days/month). Traveling so much was just exhausting & I was not able to keep up my treatments & take care of myself. Fortunately, the company I work for & manager have been very accommodating. During the last few months my FEV1s have been ~45% predicted (on IV meds now), but normally they run ~60%.

I work full time. I am also about to go back to school. I have a 3 year old as well. I have a supportive partner and family that helps me. My FEV1 is about 82%.

I don't work, but wish I could. I have no idea what my FEV1 or whatever it is, is. I know I can still do stuff like martial arts without coughing up a lung. lol

I hate being on SSI and living with my dad/step-mom ..Not that I don't like em, ( I don't think there's ANYONE in my family who I hate..Okay, my mom's African Grey parrot and I don't get along sometmes, but other than that.... lol) I just hate being 30 and not able to afford living on my own.

I TRIED college back when I was 19, but I had no idea what kind of career/job to even study for...I STILL don't know what kind of thing I could do to earn some $$.

Can't try any job where I'd breathe in harmful stuff...or be working with food, with my coughing; no car, which was a pain when I lived in Louisiana (where I lived, there was no public transportation...at least the bay area in California has tons of THAT. Traveling around here is much easier)..which means any job requiring one is out.

There's things I like to do, but I'm not too good at them (drawing, writing...I'm not too bad with digital photography, I guess, but I think it'd be hard for me to do anything much with that).
