ibuprofen and cystic fibrosis

I thought ibuprofen was not longer use in CF, and that they didn´t find it to be as beneficial as they thought at the beginning but today I found this

What do you think about it. Are any of you taking ibuprofen to slow down cf progression?

I'm not on it "persay" but I take it somewhat regularly and it always makes me feel better. I get "sick" feeling a lot and it makes me feel a lot better. It can make me bleed though, so I don't take it as often as probably would.

I used to be on ibuprofen years ago to help with inflammation, but had to stop because of hemoptysis. Ibuprofen can thin the blood and if you are prone to hemoptysis you dont want to be taking anything that thins the blood.
As for it actually working for inflammation , i read it really only benefits younger cf'rs but, who knows............

My boys were on ibuprofen when they were about 2, for about a year. They then went into total renal failure (caused by a reaction of the ibuprofen and gentimycin) and ended up on kidney dialysis (sp) for over two months. They havent been allowed to use it since.
