Incontinence in CF women...

I had an Upper GI this past week. Apparently when I got to Recovery, but was still under, I was coughing a lot (my mom later told me she could hear me clear down the hallway!). When I came to, I was soaking wet. They had told me I could keep everything on from the waist down, so my capri's were soaked from the waist down to nearly my knees by the time I'd woken up. And I was so cold!

I had no other clothes along and went into the bathroom and tried to absorb all I could out of the fabric with paper towels and was so uncomfortable and embarrassed until I could get home and change my clothes!

Adlai - How embarrassing! I feel for you. Last time I was put under at the hospital (bronch) I had totally soaked the bedding & it was so embarrassing when the nurse was helping me get dressed afterwards. At least my clothes were dry. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> My appt is next week at JH so I'll see what they say. I'm not one to let an issue drop and tend to push until I'm convinced we've exhausted all the possibilities. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> ~J

I had a surgery, but it didn´t help...
The cut was hurting a lot whilst coughing, so my lungs got worse after the surgery because I automatically breathed only in the upper lung parts, not down the belly.
As it did not even work, I wouldn´t recommend the surgery...

<br />As it did not even work, I wouldn´t recommend the surgery...

thank you, Uli, for sharing your experience. No one is recommending surgery .... not even the uro-gyn surgeon! Then, they say, the surgery is good for about 5 years. I'm interested to hear what other CF clinics think about incontinence, CF and surgery.
