Incontinence in CF women...

thank you, Uli, for sharing your experience. No one is recommending surgery .... not even the uro-gyn surgeon! Then, they say, the surgery is good for about 5 years. I'm interested to hear what other CF clinics think about incontinence, CF and surgery.

Uli, Thanks for posting your experience. It's very good to think about the healing / coughing incompatibility.

Momtana - I'll try to PM you in a minute! ~Juliet

OK, so I discussed this issue at the CF clinic this past week. We're going to start out with exercises, trying to strengthen the pelvic floor. Basically it's Kegel exercises, but with a twist. One thing is rather than just tighten them, to think about lifting up - sort of like an elevator. There are multiple repeats of the basic tightening, but then also do a lift - lift - lift up to three levels of height.

They've also gave me a referral to physical therapist. There are feedback mechanisms that can be used to understand the strength and muscle status so that you can 'see' what's happening in terms of muscle tightening. I'm also going to get things looked at to make sure I don't have a tear or something. ~Juliet
