My OB, who also has tons of experience with CF mommies, said that if her moms are showing signs of stress with their breathing, or infection, and if baby is doing well that she will usually induce early. From what I understand a lot of CF moms don't go to 40 weeks.

She said they do it for all the CF women, and they have a better health outcome after wards. However, I am kind of thinking its a bad idea and that we will wait and see. However I will not let her induce me anytime before Feb9 (I would be 37 weeks then) just because something tells me thats when Ill be ready. Just wanted to see what yall had to say. She is an excellent OB, and even the High risk OB agreed with her, and my CF doctor. SO I dunno</end quote></div>

I believe that your doc is a good doc, but please please please inform yourself before blindly following ANY medical advice (that;s why they call is advice, not RULES) - for the sake of your baby.

And use our anecdotal info too - both my kids came early naturally at 34.5 and 36 weeks and were very healthy, both Christian and Lauren went 40 weeks, other moms, without health issues have had babies born at my kids' gestational ages who sopent weeks in the NICU (and you don't want that!)

I'll say it again, trust your body!! Listen to your body and you'll know how things are going without a myriad of tests ,etc. Modern medicine has taken the wisdom out of the body and places it into machines and numbers.

Had to get in on this discussion. I was induced at 37 weeks. At the end, I was pre-elclampsic and had to monitor my blood pressure multiple times a day. My lung function probably was in the low 50s at the end after beginning with 80% and dropping to an all time low of 46% in January. I had been hospitalized 3 times for IV drugs to treat lungs and monitoring of the baby. After all this, I was dying to get Alex out (it felt like I was literally dying), but my high risk OB and myself felt like it was important to wait until I was 37 weeks. We did not do an amniocentesis. I am so glad I made it to 37 weeks. My induction went smoothly and Alex was 6 pounds 7 ounces, 9 on the Apgar scale and a beautiful baby! If you can make it to 37 weeks, wait. I would definitely not make this decision until the end of your pregnancy and you know how you are doing. Congrats on your being preggo! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
