What's the average wait for the lung transplant list? I am gettting close to being on the list and am scared to death... but know I would feel much better post-transplant. Just wondered if it's a long wait usually or what. Also, are you on Disability (Social Security Disability) or do you work? I work a full time job but am exhausted everyday and really need to apply for Disability but don't know how hard it is to get approved. I heard it is a pain too.</end quote></div>
I had to quit my full time job as a custom motorcycle builder in April of 09. Me and my parents fought relentlessly with insurances and SSDI. I was finally approved for SSDI in Jan of 2010, they had to put me on the advantage program so I could get accepted. My TX center told me the average wait time for them was around 4 months but I know it could take up to 2 years or longer. My LAS is 42 which is above average for my location so I'm hopin to get the call sooner than later.
