Keeping Up Your Treatment Routine

What works for me is i just remind myself how horrible i feel if i don't do them. I am 95% complient with meds but i do fall off the wagon and miss my HTS sometimes. It is ok to miss them the odd time but not everyday. I usually feel pretty crappy when i miss them. In the long run it's not worth it.

I made myself a calendar chart thingy; I have little check boxes for all the things I'm supposed to do and as I do them, I check them off. Then I have a hard-copy track record to bring my doc as proof and I get to feel good about all the hard work I'm doing to stay compliant. Each day that has every box checked just makes me more determined to do the same the next day and keep up the good track record. I started out saying, "okay, I want to have one full week of 100% compliance." and then when I did that, I set my goal higher - 2 weeks, 3 weeks, a full month...by that time, I was in the routine and it's been a lot easier. I still do my check boxes though - I'm in the groove now and don't need the reminders so much, but it still feels good to see my hard work on paper!!

Also, it may sound selfish, but I learned to put myself first. For example, if my sister wants me to come over and I haven't done my evening treatment yet or I'm just feeling tired and worn out, I say no. That was the biggest challenge for me; learning how to let go of other's expectations and finally start living up to my own. Good Luck!!

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for the great advice. It seems like a lot of you use a calendar or some kind of list that you check off when you've completed something. I think I'm going to make a nice spreadsheet that I can mark up each time I do my vest, nebs, etc.

My boyfriend said that he would help me keep up with it as well, and even went as far as saying he would buy me something depending on how many checkmarks I have! I thought that was really cute!

Hopefully this will help me out. Thanks again for everyone's good wishes and ideas!
