Kidney Failure

It's been a couple of years ago, but I'm curious if I'm the only person with CF to go through this. I also want to know if people are aware there is risks for this. I was on trobra, vanc, and Zoysn. They took my peek and trough and my vanc levels were through the roof. I found out that my kidneys had stopped working and were at lethal levels. I had to go through dialysis five times in one week. Luckily my kidneys started working on there own. I was never told that there was even the slightest risk of kidney failure. I would like to know if anyone has had or knows someone with CF who got kidney failure from anitbiotics. Also does the doctors let you know the risks of iv antibiotics. Please let me know.

Yes, I have friend who has kidney failure from IV Tobra, too much of it. My doc always has me give urine samples during IV's.

i personally have never had a problem with my kidneys. but the 4 times i've been on iv tobra they check my levels every week with a peak and trough. and i was always told drink drink drink. even if you aren't thirsty drink to help clean everything on it's way. i think they told my mom the first time i had iv's that there was the risk, but i'm not positive. i know that i know for sure what the risk are cause i read the antibiotic sheet warnings and all that the home health care sends. so i watch for any signs that are on the sheet. sorry i couldn't be more helpful though.
