I don't know if this has already been done or not, but I was wondering about what all you ladies on here go through during that time of the month.

I know that my lung function drops, and my stomach cramps so bad that I can't do my vest - the movement just kills me.

I get insanely hungry too about a week before...that is how I know I have about a week until "it" shows. However the day it arrives, the hunger disappears. I figure I am fortunate that I have that week that I am actually pretty hungary because the rest of them month I almost have to remind myself that I had better eat! Also the day before my stomach gets kind of crampy and definitely bloated.

I don't notice any change in my lung function or anything else otherwise. I have heard though from other CF's that they have problems with their lung function decreasing, or just pulmonary symptoms in general acting up.

well, years ago when i was a teenager i had horrible cramps and long periods. Thats all changed to ......a little pain the first day only, and a very short 2 or 3 day period. BUT the other oddity is......... my blood sugar will be real low the day or two before my period . I also have problems with coughing up blood right around the time of ovulation.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

I do notice that I am more congested around that time & of course, hungry too. I think my PFT's are lower too at that time of month.
Did I mentione irritable?<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0"> That probably applies to all of us<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I tend to also be very hungry the week before and first few days of my period. My period only lasts 4-5 days though, and I don't get cramps. I never really did, but I am on the birth control pill, so that takes care of everything. I've never noticed my lung function going down though.

Is it normal to have a VERY light period. I was in a very bad mood the last2 days and then it looked like I was starting my period, which would explain my moodiness. But it looks like the discharge is VERY diluted and i've been able to last the day without needing to change my pad and it looks like theres only two drops of blood in it. The blood isn't red as I've said, it like orangey.
I begining to think this isn't my period but that Im in fact bleeding from a cut or something. .
Any suggestions?<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">
thanx <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Before I was put on the BC pill, my periods were irregular, didn't come for months at a time, and I always attributed that to the poor development we all experience, like low weight, height, etc. I mean, for me, it took me forever to get my first period, and I still haven't grown any real sized breasts lol. (And I don't come from a family of tiny chests either, they're all normal, except me lol.) But I did learn in one of my classes that delayed maturation/development alters puberty and everything thereafter. So if you're not gaining weight and getting enough vitamins, nutrients, etc., you're not developing "normally" so once you hit puberty, it'll be a little off. Even though not having your period is great, I always hated when it surprised me. I like being on the pill a lot, because it regulated my period, and it only lasts like 4 days max, with very little bleeding and no cramps. If you're not happy with the way your period is, go see your GYN, and talk about getting on the pill. But if you do go on it, and you are sexually active, remember that antibiotics decrease the effectiveness of the pill. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I sound like a mom...

For years now, I thought I was crazy. Every time I am PMSing, my asthma, lung function, and my cough all get worse. Every time I go on IVs, I am on my period. I could swear it was related but my old-school doctor just kinda cocked his eyebrow at me when I said something, so I let it go. I had a tubal ligation, 3 years ago, after my second baby. My periods have not really changed, they are pretty normal. But sure enough, every month about a week before, I have a mild exacerbation going on. Sometimes it will totally ease up as soon as I start, but sometimes it only worsens. This post made me feel like maybe I'm not crazy after all! lol
