I just wanted to post this to remind everyone to look for unusual side effects with all the meds we seem to be on at any given time. I know we all know this; but, it doesn't hurt to be reminded. What is difficult is that some of us have a high tolerance for being "annoyed" and may ignore some of the side effects or may not even notice them until a med is stopped. We may also be too sick to notice or be concentrating so much on getting well or a medication routine that we don't notice subtle changes in how we feel.

I say all of this because I was on Levaquin for a while and negelected to bring up some side effects that I probably should have brought up to my doc sooner. He probably would have changed my med right away and I would have avoided some of the "not so pleasant emotions" I have had the last few weeks. Here is what I experienced:

- difficulty sleeping with very vivid and weird dreams, though this went away after a while, sleep is important and I should have known it was the medication
- really strange and deep depression out of the blue and for no apparent reason, crying for no reason
- joint and muscle pain that I thought was from working out or walking in the wrong shoes, it went away as soon as I stopped the medication

Anyway....just a reminder to pay attention to how your meds affect your body. Hope this helps some of you. Some side effects can't be helped if that is the med you need to target your bug; but there certainly is a limit and there may be an alternative. In some cases the side effects may not be worth the risk.

Hmmm...I'll have to pay closer attention to the sleeping pattern/dreams while on Levaquin.

I definitely get the achy joints w/ Levaquin. I always wondered what causes the achy joints & also if it hurts anything long-term to just continue on the med as I usually do in spite of the achy joints?

Wow! Thanks for posting this! I was on Levo for about 3 weeks, until we found my pseudo in my sinuses was resistant. I was just taken off a couple of days ago. I had difficulty sleeping but thought it was just nerves about my sinus surgery. For two nights straight I got maybe 4 hours of sleep. I also had some bizarre mood swings.
Now this may explain it!
(Why do I feel so relieved when I have answers to what's happening?) <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
Thank you!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
