Longest time on iv's

The longest consecutive for me was last time I was on in Feb. I was on for 21 days.

Tobra the whole time, merepenum for 10 days (no response even though sensitive) and then cefepime for 11 days.

Usually, I'd been on them for about 14 days, but I think those days are done.

I still also go back to baseline within a week or so no matter how long I'm on them, but according to my docs, the good thing is that we're "knocking back" the pseudo and are able to see results when I'm on it (touch wood).

3 weeks plus a couple of days for me. My dr and I have considered longer, but neither of us is too excited about some of the risks that come with that. I am always on tobra when i do them, so that might be part of it.

I do them often though. Every 2 months or so lately.

Incognito and Jane, are you referring to nontuberculosis mycobacteria? I had that too, and was only on IVs for 6 weeks (amikacin and cefoxitin).

Uli, that is a long time to be on IVs! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> Why are you on them so long? Oral medicines don't work for you?

Samantha's longest was 41 days. 27 days in the hospital and the rest at home. This is when she first cultured steno and when she had her fundo. She also went into the hospital with O2 sats around 83% on room air.
