Oh I am sorry.. I totally can understand hospital depression.. I get anxiety in the hospital totally.. and usually need medication because I can't relax..
As far as emotional support, to me that is as important if not more important then any medication or CPT or breathing treatment.. and I admit I am pretty needy emotionally when I am sick.
I need friends to come and pick my spirits up but mostly I need the ppl I love the most to be there, even if it is for a few minutes.. I need it.
If these are ppl that are good friends, I would just be honest, usually with good friends girls can lay it on the line... I would tell them that you get lonely in the hospital and that you were wondering if there was a reason that they didn't come see you. ask them if they were busy, or what was the deal? It does seem odd that they didn't even call for seven days... but I don't know what they were thinking..
I really think you should be brave and talk it out with them and clear the air..so you can continue to trust these people to be your good friends..
Sending you a lot of hugs, love and understanding and a wish for a Happy Birthday
