He definitely needs something stronger than Clindamycin. Like Amy mentioned being 25 points down alone (no matter how high his pft's are) is a big red flag that something is going on. Bleeding is usually from infection but not always, but with his other symptoms pain and crackles it sounds like he has some infection going on and needs iv's. He doesnt have to go in the hospital for iv's unless thats the policy of your particular cf clinic. I do all of mine at home and it allows me to continue going to work , eat normal food, do normal things , remain active and not miss out on anything. Please call the Dr. tomorrow and ask to be seen asap. I wouldnt wait for 2 weeks if it were me, it sounds like he needs attention now.

I cant add much more. I am concerned about the big drop in PFTs also. As was said that no matter how high your pft's....that kind of drop should not be ignored nor be accepted.

All those drops add up over the years & the idea is to keep as much function for as long as possible.

HUGS & I hope he gets some relief quickly.

Though I have no experience in this--from what I have read over the last two years here--a big drop like that almost ALWAYS means IV's. Listen to the older cfrs--MAKE the doctor be more aggressive...

Please keep us informed about Andrew...

Can't add anything more, except to say that I agree with the others. I hope you don't have to fuss too much, but if it was me, "Momma Bear" might be lurking a little too close to the surface for comfort if they wanted me to wait 2 more weeks <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> . Please let us know how it goes...
