Meds that make you SOB

I've had the same problem with Tobi and recently had to stop taking it. I've heard from my doctors that a lot of patients react badly the first time they use the drug, but others can use it for years (like us) and then all of a sudden they have bronchospasms which causes the SOB, tightness, pain..etc. I switched to inhaled Ceftaz, which smells and tastes terrible and I notice pain with that as well. It is weird though because Tobramyacin IV's are still working fine.

Have you tried Xopenex? I have a Xopenex inhaler that I used when I feel short of breath. It's different than Advair so you can do it more than twice a day. Really, I think you can do it as much as you need to throughout the day. Xopenex is basically a form of albuterol, but I shake and have heart palpitations with albuterol so I use Xopenex.

Just an idea...Hope this helps somehow.

I do Xopenex already--would be in bad shape without it!

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone--gives me something to work with<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I think I sometimes am like you with the TOBI thing, where I notice that some months, I do feel almost more SOB... but it doesnt always give me that effect. (Never done collistin)

Back in high school my ped doctor wanted me to do the Advair powder disc thing, and I hated it... it didnt really make me feel short of breath, but just made everything tighter I guess, so I stopped that.

Last year my local pulmonoligst tried to have me do Pulmicort and after 2 days I thought it was great, but then after a week, I was getting the same tightness and inability to cough any mucus up. So stopped that too. I remember feeling really dumb that I felt it did the OPPOSITE of what its supposed to do, but my doctor didnt act like he didnt believe me.

I just recently within the last couple months started with Symbicort, which I have seemed to tolerate better, my doctor also said that the powders can be irritating to the lungs so the puffer should be better. I haven't been completely convinced of its effectiveness yet though, sometimes I feel like its making me tight, but then I have noticed I can breathe deeper and more fuller other days...

I use xopenex neb every treatment though too. I cant' do HTS w/o it, or it either irritates or isnt effective.
