Moms wCf that have given birth to

I'd like to ask some questions to all the moms of biological children that have had more than 1.
How long did you wait to have the 2nd?
Probably obvious-but was it a hard decision?
With the first pregnancy, did your pfts drop afterwards?
With the 2nd pregnancy, did your pfts drop even lower afterwards?
How big of a factor were your pfts in making the decision to have a 2nd child?
Do you think its the pregnancy or the lifestyle of parenting that has had the biggest influence on your lungs?

Basically in my boat, I know I want more kids. I'm still a ways off from that-but I'm starting to see it a little more on the horizon than before. I really want my pfts to be exactly where they were pre-1st baby before I decide to have another biological child or not.
My personal feelings are, with the first pregnancy I was willing to take a measure of risk to have a child. I worked hard, and made the informed decision to do so.
With the 2nd, I am not willing to take a risk necessarily bc I have to be here for the daughter that I have, thats here already.
My pfts are climbing slowly but surely. The doc wanted them to be back to pre-preg #s within 1 yr of birth, but its taking 2 yrs.
I've been feeling so down about not knowing if I'll have another child ever, its really been affecting me. So we've decided to enjoy the LO we have for another year...travel, stay healthy and just live. Next year we'll look at it more seriously.
My biggest fear is having another baby and losing some more lung function with that pregnancy. I've lost about 2 points off my baseline from pre preg. I know thats hardly anything, but what would it be after a 2nd?

So I'm really interested in seeing how other moms did with their pregs, specifically how it affected your lungs.

Thanks!

It's great that your FEV1 only went down 2%. In a study I read, after a pregnancy, FEV1 dropped 3-5% as opposed to the average yearly drop for CFers of 1-2%. I will look for that study. Anyway, it sounds like you're doing great! I, too, am looking for ways to increase my FEV1. Mine is still down 8% from my pre-pregnancy FEV1, although I imagine that will continue to go up.

I can't help you with the 2nd child questions and I don't plan to have another since my first pregnancy really affected my health (during the pregnancy 3 hospitalizations and a drop from 80% (FEV1) to 49%. But, I wish you the best of luck! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

Sorry if I didn't make that clear. It is only down 8% from my pre-pregnancy FEV1, which was 80%. So, my FEV1 is 72% right now.

Also, I am having a hard time finding the article about post pregnancy FEV1s. All I found so far is articles stating that 1-2 years after pregnancy your FEV1s should bounce back up. I will keep looking and then post the links that I find.
