Moonface side effects question!!!

I haven't had my tx yet but I have been on continuous pred at 10mg daily (up to 60mg daily during bursts, which are fairly frequent) for well over a year now. My doctors actually expect my steroid use to GO DOWN after tx, just b/c of less need for bursts assuming I'm not dealing with repeated bouts of rejection. At any rate, I have yet to develop a "moon face" from the steroids and my doctors are surprised. I guess it just doesn't happen to everyone.

i have "moonface" right now post TX. (i hate the word "moonface" who made that up anyways....?) i'm at 20mgs a day right now, and am slowly tapering down....

honestly... i hate it. i asked about it and the transplant nurse says it goes away over time. eventually i will be on 10mgs a day (half of what i'm on now) so basically i just have to stick it out. i do not like how i look right now, but it really is worth it because i feel AMAZING. i'm pretty vain too, and worry about my appearance... so i understand. i think that my face will go down though, and i'll be glad when it does. it really is sooooooo worth it though, really i can't tell you that enough!

so yeah, i think it goes away... so not to worry too much...

Isn't it funny how post transplant people are always saying, "It's so worth it"....and "I can finally breathe"....and yet pre transplant people wonder about side effects? I was once like that....but now I know.

Don't worry about side effects.

If my left arm fell off because of "side effects"...it would still be worth the ability to breathe!

I hope that sums it up for people pre transplant who are still wondering if it's worth it.

Well Lex, I wouldn't give my left arm because that's the one I write and eat with. LOL <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">
