MRSA

Avery has cultured MRSA for around a year now. Our docs have not done anything to try and get rid of it. They said it is not a problem and should not be treated until it becomes a problem.

Others can catch it from her but I do not believe it is too much of a big deal. There is a difference in culturing MRSA and a MRSA infection which is more serious.

My daughter cultured MRSA once when she was 13 years old. She was able to clear it with a combination of two oral antibiotics but I don't remember what they were. She is now 20 years old and hasn't cultured it since.

I know this isn't typically how it goes for most people, but just wanted to let you know that it does happen from time to time. She has also cultured pseudomonus only once when she was 15, again.... so far so good for not having either one again yet!

My son cultured MRSA one time. I was concerned and the doc basically said not to be. He also said he doesn't consider him to be culturing it unless it shows up twice on a culture. We've been back a few times since and it's never shown up again.
