my experience with pari

You're not alone in this... My PARI ProNeb Ultra II is EXTEMELY LOUD! I have to have the TV on nearly full blast and cannot hear people who are sitting next to me talking unless they really raise their voices. It amazes me. I also thought I'd be upgrading since going from a ProNeb Ultra from about 10 YEARS ago! That machine was MUCH quieter than this one! And, not only that, but it takes LONGER to do my nebs than it did with the other machine! It takes about 12-15 minutes for an ampule of albuterol! H.S.... forget about it! It takes about 45 minutes to get HALF of it nebbed... I'm very disappointed and also wanted to ask PARI why it takes sooooo long to do a treatment! I actually have a 10 year old (at least) other neb machine (I can't remember the name) at my parents' house that cuts my treatments in half compared to the PARI II... I FINISH my H.S. in about 15 minutes with that machine. I am very unhappy with the PARI II... So, I share your frutration and experiences.

Good luck finding something that works. Unfortunately, my insurance won't cover another neb machine (I got this one about 9 months ago) so soon, so another one is out of the question for me. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Hey Mj, I had two PulmoMate compressors and they both were loud as can be. I recently received the Pari Proneb Ultra II and that is by far quieter than the two PulmoMates. Maybe you did get a bad one or something. But from my experience, Pari has been the best compressor system I have used. Haven't used them all and I am sure there are few that are just as good or even better. Maybe what you want is an ultra-sonic delivery system....

There are a few by Omron, but they get considerably more expensive, like $250-550.

Lumiscope and Micro-Air put out an Ultra-Sonic delivery system too. Prices vary from $125-274. Omron being the most expensive at $544.

We have a pulmo-aid for use at home. DH's cousin gave us her daughter's 12 year old model for use at the outlaws and we found albuterol & tobi treatments took significantly less time than the Pari Proneb Ultra. So I ordered a new Devilbiss Pulmoaid for home and just use the pari for travel.

Used the pari this weekend and albuterol/atrovent took 20 minutes vs. the 12 at home and pulmozyme took 15 vs. the 5-8 at home. It's not as load as our pulmo-aid, but takes forever, so I'm trying to decide if I should pick up a more compact devilbiss for travelling or try the pari-proneb ultra II.

I suppose I should either try the pro neb ultra II again as I may have gotten a faulty one or try an ultrasonic nebulizer. Are the ultrasonic nebulizer's just as good/safe? Does anybody have an opinion as to which one is the best? I am willing to pay whatever as long as I know it is doing the job.

Time is of course more important to me than sound so I do not want to sacrifice length of treatments. I guess I want it all but the order of importance for me is 1. receive medications safely 2. time efficiency 3. quieter nebulizer

I am sure most of you feel this way about order of importance.

By the way, I am a 31 y.o. female with CF, dx at age 5.

Have you looked in to getting an eFlow? If you're looking for speed that's the way to go, and as a bonus it's quite. I just wish I could get one.
