Lil Strawbery Shortness, I have never heard of Make a Wish, here in the US telling someone they weren't "sick enough" to be granted a wish. In fact your doctor has to approve that you are in well enough condition to be able to go on your wish. Having CF is enough to be granted a wish by the Make a Wish Foundation. When you are well enough to enjoy your Wish is the best time to go. Having CF kinda gives you that "luxury" unlike a child with cancer or leukemia. When my daughter decided she wanted to make her wish she told her nurse at the CF center. She simply asked, "what do I do if I want to make a wish?" The nurse took it from there and we were contacted by the Make a Wish people. Your granted wish includes your immediate family, so if you have brothers and sisters living at home they get to take part.
They gave us about 6 rolls of film (we had our own camera or they would have supplied us with disposable cameras they said). When we got back we gave them the rolls, they developed them and a volunteer made a scrap book. My daughter's wish was to see the Rolling Stones. They tried to arrange for her to meet Mick Jagger but had difficulty getting ahold of his publicist and when they did it was kinda too late and they said "sorry". That didn't matter to her because she hadn't asked for that, but it would have been an unbelievable bonus if she had been able to meet him. Her wish came with a limo ride from home to the airport, a rental car, a limo ride to and from the concert, concert souveniers, a couple of new outfits (and one for her sister too), the hotel, airfare, and extra spending money for touristy type stuff and food. They told us the idea was that we did not have to spend much if anything at all, and a limo ride back home from the airport. Best of all, the memory to last a lifetime. They asked for a Wish and two back up wishes. What an experience. You should ask your CF center about Make a Wish.
