Nebulizer use in hospital

When Alyssa was in the hospital they brought a big bucket of sealed nebulizers when we checked in. She got a new nebulizer for every treatment she received. She only did albuterol at the time, so I don't know what would have happened if she had more than one med, but they were prepared with like 25 sets of nebulizer cups for us.

That isn't right....you should be getting different neb cups for each med. At the end of the day, my neb cups are discarded and new ones are provided for each day. My hospital also labels them so that there is no confusion as to which neb is what.

I hope that you get somewhere with this.

At my hospital they have no clue what a pari neb is, they use those cheap ones and usually only give you one for each med. Meaning if your there for a week you'll still be using the same neb unless you tell'em to get a new one.
I just bring my own neb cups (pari) and a small bottle of alcohol. I sterilize it by rinsing with hot water, then rinsing with alcohol and setting it on a paper towel to dry. I also keep a box of albuterol in my bag cause they never give you the right amount of treatments per day. Before that the respiratory doc's would always just rinse the cheap ones off in tap water<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0">

Our hospital is pretty good about bringing enough supplies (they will even send us home with extra). Sometimes a new nurse will tell us the one-per-day quota but we always have some terrible mishap- oooops it fell on the floor- can't use it.

They use PARI for tobi and the disposable ones for HS or pulozyme.
